Salad

Last night I fed the other three kids sandwiches. Steffi and I had one of her favorites instead - salad! With shredded cheese and boiled eggs and bacon bits and tomatoes and croutons.

This morning, she asked if she could have salad for breakfast. I told her I wasn't going to make a salad for breakfast. So she asked if she could just have the tomatoes instead. I think she ate 4 of them. She would have eaten more if I would have let her. But I made her have yogurt too.

Quotes

Old quotes...

"You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough." - Mae West

"And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair." - Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet   {because she would prefer to NEVER wear shoes!}

"Never travel faster than your guardian angel can fly." - Mother Teresa  {because she constantly moves faster than her feet can go!}

Some Homework

"I went to Worlds of Fun! It was fun. But it was a long ride. We had to get an Inn (stay at a hotel). We went on water slides. We got new toys. But we had to go home and go to bed. I liked the TimberWolf (roller coaster). I had some fortune cookies and an Icee and ice cream."

The picture is of Roscoe.

Love the teacher's note on this one!

Anybody want a Kitten?

We almost got a new kitten today.

Steffi, Phil, and I took Meredith to her softball game. We walked past a van on our way to the field and saw a kitten on the dashboard. I was kind of concerned. But the windows were down a little. Actually, that concerned me too because they seemed to be pretty far down. Not enough for a dog to get out but kittens are pliable and I just hoped he couldn't get out.

So we sat down on the bleachers at the game and pretty soon another lady shows up with the kitten! She found him playing in the grass by that same van and was worried he would get run over so she picked him up and asked us if he was ours. I said NO! but by then Stephanie had already wrangled the kitten from the lady so I sent her out to ask people around our complex if it was their kitten. She asked me if we could keep him if he wasn't anybody's.

I said no. (Like there is any way I would just leave a kitten to starve to death by himself.)

Luckily, she found the owner. And she had a great little adventure so she was happy.

Later, I saw her carrying a branch around and a couple of little girls were following her carrying their own little branches. She's a leader, she is.
