As we were driving home Sunday night, Stephanie kept asking me if we were going someplace else. I told her we had to get home before dark so we would beat the vampires and warewolves home.
When Daddy heard "warewolf" he replied, "There Wolf. There Castle."
Immediately, Stephanie then asked "Can we watch 'Young Frankenstein' when we get home?"
She's so clever.
______________
I just put the movie in for her and she's sitting there on the couch watching it while her brothers and sister wander around playing "fishing."

The Attack of the Contrary
She's doing it! She's doing the same thing Hayden used to do. It irritated the crap out of me then and it irritates the crap out of me now! At least Hayden hid behind "Pretend Guy." Stephanie likes to keep all the credit for herself when she does something she thinks is clever.
Everything is the opposite now. Just on the ride home tonight, we stopped at a red light...
"Mommy, the light is green. Why aren't you going, Mommy? Green means go."
If we drove thru a green light...
"The light is red! Why did you drive when the light is red, Mommy?"
It's constant. Non-stop.
The other thing she does is like - she asked Meredith if she wanted to trade the toothbrushes they got at the dentist office. Meredith said ok and Stephanie asked her "Why do you want to trade?"
They traded seats in the van today. "Why did you want to trade seats, Meredith?"
IT WAS HER IDEA TO TRADE IN THE FIRST PLACE! SHOULDN'T SHE JUST BE HAPPY ABOUT IT?
She will ask me for milk or a snack and when I give it to her, she asks me why did I give it to her.
AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I'm going to need medication.

manbearpig
So, yesterday morning I went to the dentist. During the 45 minutes I was gone, my darling husband decided to allow the children to watch the "Manbearpig" episode of South Park.
When I laid down with Stephanie for her nap later, she was muttering "Half man, half bear, half pig" over and over.

When a Monster is Born
At naptime today, I read the story "When a Monster is Born" to Stephanie. Then we lay down and I told her to go to sleep or I would feed her to the monster under her bed.
S = "Once I crawled under my bed to check for monsters. There isn't a monster under there."
T = "So we have a faraway-forest monster then?"
S = "If a monster is faraway in the forest, then we can't see him so there is no monster . . .
And no bears . . .
But there IS a monster in the kitchen."
