Scarface Stephanie

Tuesday night, Stephanie was running down the dark hallway and she tripped and smashed her head into the corner of our doorway.

She came screaming and crying back into the living room and holding her hands up to her face which was dripping with blood.

She had hit her forehead on the edge of the corner and split the skin open. We got her calmed down and cleaned up and the blood stopped and it wasn't bad enough to need stitches but we did put a butterfly bandage and another bandage on it and then held some ice to her head for as long as she would let us.

We were afraid it would get really swollen but the swelling was gone by morning so we must have done it right.

But before she went to bed that night, she was very concerned that she might have gotten blood all over the carpet. Poor baby! So I had to advise her we weren't worried about the carpet and were just glad she was okay.

I'll try and take a picture of the scar after she lets me take the bandages off. For obvious reasons, we have no pictures of the blood carnage!

It's Scary how Their Minds Work

S: "Sundance (the cat) is clean because he licks himself."

{slight pause}

S: "I could lick myself."

Mommy: "Please. Don't."

Someone

Daddy just caught Someone coloring on the wall.

Someone colored all over the wall.

Then Someone handed the crayon to her little brother and tried to pass the blame off on him.

Someone is now standing in the corner.

(I believe Someone is trying to get her little brother ready for his lifetime of servitude as her Henchman. That's what Henchmen are for, you know - doing heavy lifting and taking the blame when you get caught.)

Treasures

I was putting clothes away the other day and I looked up at the shelf in Stephanie's closet and found these. . .

Those are empty soda bottles. This little obsession started at Hayden's football games when I would give her an empty bottle and let her add her little treasures to it. You know - things like flowers and leaves and whatever else the kid found on the ground.

Last I knew, there were only 2 bottles up there. And I warned her not to be climbing the shelves to get to that top shelf because if she pulls it out of the wall, I will be very, very, very, very annoyed.

There are now 8 bottles. I have no idea where the others came from. I'm guessing she dug them out of the trash.

Here is the underwear/sock drawer. Obviously, this is where tiny treasures go so they don't get lost.

A closer look. . .
What? You don't save strings from your raggedy duck blankie?!?! Or a tiny little ornament thing you found on the floor of some store somewhere underneath the display shelves? Or a suncatcher cat? Or tiny little beads? Or dryer sheets?
Well.
You seriously need to re-examine your priorities!

Staying Warm

Stephanie advised me this fall that she HATES her green jacket. She even tried to trade Meredith for her purple jacket.

John & I went out for Black Friday this year. One of the items Walmart had for sale was their 4-in-1 jackets for $15 (all sizes - even adults! I've tried on the women's version before and the problem is: when I have both jackets on - the sleeves are too tight and it makes me feel like I'm trapped.)
I thought about getting all the kids one since Hayden's and Meredith's jackets have already been in use for 3 years each and are getting very worn and torn up.
But they only had a limited selection of sizes in girls so we just got Stephanie one.

Sorry for the uncombed hair and the pajamas.

That's her 'posing' face, apparently. She was trying to stick her bottom lip out but she kept giggling.

Trust me - she likes it. She giggled and thanked me for it over and over when I first gave it to her. And then wore it inside the house for about 45 minutes until she was finally too hot.

The inside is pink fleece and very soft - it's also reversable and can be worn separately from the outer layer. The outside is brown but has enough pink on it to satisfy her.
