It's Magic!

We were in the car the other day and it was actually nice out so I let Stephanie roll her window down a little bit.

We were stopped in line at Taco Bell and I was bored. So I advised her that her Mommy is magic! I told her I could roll her window up and down without touching it!

I said, "Abracadabra!" and the window went down.

I said, "Hocus Pocus!" and the window went up.

She was impressed for a few seconds. Then she got mad!

"You are NOT magic!" she said.

"Yes, I am. Didn't you see the window go down and up?"

"You are NOT MAGIC! I'M MAGIC!"

So she said, "AbracaPocus!" and I rolled her window down for her.

Later, I had to threaten the older kids so they wouldn't tell the secret!

Today we were in the van and she asked me to roll her window down. I advised her the van windows don't roll down in the back. (They actually pop out at the bottom, but I don't want her knowing that either.)

I was trying to listen to the radio and she was being really loud so I finally listened to her and she was shouting at the window, "Abracadabra! Ab-RA-ca-dab-ra! Abra-CA-dabra!" The baby was trying to help her out, "Dab-ra!"

I almost drove off the road.

Last NIght's Conversation

"Mommy, can we buy some watermelon?"

"Sure."

"But not the dirty ones!"

?

"But we can't eat the seeds."

"Could we possibly discuss watermelon in the morning?"

{a short time later...}

"Mommy. When I get up, can I have sandwich chips?"

_________________

You would almost think I never feed the kid. Her entire day revolves around sandwich chips...

"Can I have sandwich chips for dinner?"
"Can I have sandwich chips for snack?"

"You make me crabby cuz you don't give me sandwich chips."

Oh, here's another daytime conversation...

"You better get me some milk right now!"

"Excuse me?"

"Get me some milk, please."

"Try again. Say, 'Could I please have some milk?"

"Could I please have some milk? With a cherry on top."

On A Daily Basis

At least once a day, every day, I hear these comments or questions....

"What day is it today?"

"What day will it be when we wake up?"

"I want to go to the parade."

"I want to see the fireworks."

"When will it be tomorrow?"

"Can I play Play-doh?"

"But I didn't take a nap yesterday." (Yesterday means any previous day in her entire existance.)

"Can we go to Cheeseburger again today?" (This means she wants to go back to the Burger King playyard. This one just started this weekend.)

"Can we go to the gym to swimming lessons?"

"I want to see Fred and Linda and Isabelle and go swimming."

"Am I getting my new room today?"

Hugs

My little Sweetheart just came up to me and sadly said,

"I didn't get a hug today."

Oh, my goodness. We remedied that right away.

Conversation

Steffi finished her highly nutrious lunch of a hot dog.

S: "Now can I have some sandwich chips?"

Me: "Sorry, we're out of chips. Would you like some tortilla chips instead?"

S: "Maybe. Maybe I want candy instead. Meredith's candy. Because you make me grumpy all the time. So you must give me candy."

Play-Doh

I bought the kids some new Play-Doh. I was hoping to wait to open when everyone was here but Steffi has been asking for it for 2 days straight now.

So I let her open one container. She chose the pink one, of course.

People walking by will probably think we're having a party with dozens of little girls for all the giggling and excitement this is causing.

It surprises and makes me smile every time - how much joy a kid can get out of a new container of Play-Doh.

Apple

I was cutting up an apple for Stephanie.

"Mommy, cut the crusts off please."
